The Advantages of Installing Solar Panels
Solar or photovoltaic panels are used to convert the light from the sun into electric energy, which can be used to power a wide variety of applications. Since the light of the sun is a renewable energy source, we can perpetually harness it using solar panels.
The solar energy can be mainly used for two purposes: to generate heat or generate electricity; so other than what solar panels evidently provide, what other advantages are we looking at?
It is needless to say that solar panels do not produce any harmful effects on the environment and are a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels (natural gas, coal and oil). Power plants, cars, trucks, etc, they all burn a great deal of fossil fuels and thus produce the greenhouse effect, which leads to global warming, whereas solar panels produce no air pollution. Not to mention that noise pollution is out of the question.
Solar energy is renewable, it will never run out, thus making off-grid living possible. If properly installed and maintained, a solar panel can provide energy for decades and does not require high maintenance, as it does not have any moving parts.
Once the solar panel has been paid for, its lifespan can be as much as 15-20 years, so, come to think of it, financially speaking, it is not at all a bad investment, since it is beneficial in the long run. Homeowners can save money reducing their electric bills, as the panels produce energy that can be used right where it is being produced, instead of paying huge fees for the energy to travel long distances from generating plants across power lines.
The advantages of solar panels are global, and solar power will remain an abundant resource of energy for billions of years to come, whereas fossil fuels have a devastating effect on the atmosphere and are expected to run dry within the next century. Aside from that fact, using solar power gives you the nice feeling of not depending on any monopolistic energy supplier and, since the sun shines every day, why not make the best of it
